UK solar demand set to roughly double by 2030

The outlook for the UK solar market over the next five years is exceptionally strong. The main question is not whether demand will grow, but whether the industry can manufacture, import, install and connect enough panels quickly enough.

The UK currently has around 22 GW of installed solar capacity, while the government's target is 45–47 GW by 2030 — meaning the country needs to roughly double its solar capacity within five years.

To achieve that, approximately 4–5 GW of new solar capacity must be added annually. Overall we would expect UK solar demand over the next five years to increase by around 100%, making it one of the fastest-growing segments of the UK's energy market.
